After 2 years of professional art school in Jacksonville, Oregon Cathy began her art business painting murals, illustrations, and private commissions for private collections including oil painting on canvas, panels and ceiling murals including extensive wall and ceiling murals at the main residence at Bella Fiore Winery in Ashland. She began participation in chalk art in 2004 where her very first piece was chosen as People's Choice awards and has since been an invitational artist in professional chalk art national and international events. She was the organizer and promoter of Takin' it to the Street Chalk Art event in downtown Medford where she mentored Mera Oliveria who has worked alongside Cathy in many regional chalk art events.
Mera Oliveria grew up in Southern Oregon and has been oil painting for 7 years. Mera has always loved art but it wasn't until she encountered the living God that she feels her art and skill level blossomed in new ways. She believes artists are gifted with abilities to create art that allows one to encounter the living God, a meeting place, so to speak. Along with oil painting, Mera engages in chalk festivals where artists spend days on the asphalt creating large chalk murals in the streets, emphasizing the importance of the arts within community, a universal language that speaks of the human experience we all live, and the spiritual and emotional journey that no one can escape. She strives to put meaning into her artwork, expressing deeper messages within it. She and her husband, who is a musician, collaborate with their skills often and live with their two young kids in Medford. They thrive on being involved in the local arts community as a family.
